Wyoming Paycheck Calculator 2026

Estimate your 2026 Wyoming take-home pay from salary or hourly wages. Wyoming has no state or local income tax, so this calculator focuses on what does come out: federal W-4 withholding, Social Security, Medicare and your pre-tax and post-tax deductions. It also handles hourly pay and overtime after 40 hours a week.

2026 calculation methodology

Federal withholding uses the 2026 federal brackets and standard deduction for your Form W-4 filing status, with Step 2(c), Step 3 and Step 4 inputs. Wyoming has no state or local income tax, so no Wyoming amount is withheld. Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500 and Medicare is 1.45%, plus 0.9% above $200,000. Employer-paid Wyoming unemployment insurance never comes out of your pay. See the worked example and test cases below.

What You Should Know About Wyoming Paychecks

Wyoming doesn't tax wages, and neither does any Wyoming city or county. The only taxes withheld from a Wyoming paycheck are federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, so a $60,000 salary paid biweekly keeps $1,938.07 of each $2,307.69 check.

Five of Wyoming's six neighbors tax wages (Montana, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah and Idaho); only South Dakota doesn't. That matters if you commute. Work done in Wyoming is free of state income tax; work done across the line usually isn't.

Wyoming's own minimum wage is $5.15, but the federal $7.25 covers almost every job, and federal overtime rules apply. Unemployment insurance is paid by employers only.

How Much More You Keep in Wyoming

The same $60,000 biweekly paycheck, filing single, run through our other state calculators with their default settings. Wyoming's advantage is the state tax line that isn't there.

State tax on a $60,000 salary, biweekly, single (2026)
State State tax per paycheck State tax per year
Wyoming$0.00$0
South Dakota$0.00$0
Utah$102.69$2,670
Colorado (tax plus FAMLI)$102.38$2,662
Idaho$90.00$2,340
Nebraska$81.71$2,124
Montana$79.00$2,054
Keep the whole picture in mind: Wyoming funds its budget largely from mineral production taxes, plus sales and property taxes, so workers don't pay for it through their paychecks. But the savings only apply to work done in Wyoming: live in Cheyenne and work in Fort Collins, and Colorado taxes those wages.

Crossing State Lines for Work

Wyoming has no reciprocal agreements because it has no income tax to share. What matters is where you work and where you live.

How border commutes are taxed (2026)

WyomingMontana, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah or IdahoThe work state's taxA nonresident return in the work state; no Wyoming return
Montana, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah or IdahoWyomingNone by Wyoming; ask for home-state withholdingYour home state's resident return on all wages
WyomingRemote for an out-of-state employerUsually noneMost states tax only work done inside their borders
A common surprise: Colorado and Idaho residents who work in Wyoming often find nothing withheld for their home state, because the Wyoming employer isn't registered there. If that's you, ask payroll to withhold for your home state, or make estimated payments.

Wyoming Taxes Your Employer Pays

No income tax doesn't mean no payroll tax. Wyoming employers pay these on your wages, and none of them can be taken out of your check.

Tax or program 2026 rule Shows on your pay stub?
State unemployment insurance (DWS)Paid on the first $33,800 of each worker's 2026 wages at a rate set for each employerSometimes as an employer line, never as a deduction

Spot a problem? If a Wyoming pay stub shows a state income tax or unemployment deduction taken from your pay, ask your payroll team. It's usually a setup error, such as another state's code on a Wyoming worker.

How to Calculate Your Wyoming Paycheck

A Wyoming paycheck goes from gross pay to take-home pay in four steps, and the last one is simple because there's no state tax.

1

Calculate gross pay

Divide salary by pay periods, or multiply the hourly rate by regular hours and add overtime at 1.5 times the rate after 40 hours a week.

4

Finish Wyoming take-home pay

There's no Wyoming state or local income tax, so subtract any post-tax deductions and you have your take-home pay.

Wyoming Paycheck Worked Example: $60,000 Salary, Biweekly

Here's the paycheck at the top of this page run by hand: a $60,000 salary, federal Single, biweekly pay and no pre-tax deductions. Federal withholding follows IRS Publication 15-T for 2026.

Step-by-step 2026 Wyoming paycheck on a $60,000 biweekly salary
Step Calculation Result
1. Gross pay$60,000 divided by 26$2,307.69
2. Annualize for federal tax$2,307.69 times 26, minus the $8,600 single adjustment$51,399.94
3. Federal tax$1,240 plus 12% of $31,499.94 (the amount over $19,900)$5,020.00 per year, $193.08 per paycheck
4. Social Security$2,307.69 times 6.2%$143.08
5. Medicare$2,307.69 times 1.45%$33.46
6. Wyoming taxNo state or local income tax$0.00
What it means for take-home pay: Gross pay of $2,307.69 minus $193.08 federal income tax, $143.08 Social Security and $33.46 Medicare leaves $1,938.07.

Wyoming Minimum Wage and Overtime in 2026

Wyoming has no state minimum wage law, so the federal Fair Labor Standards Act sets the floor for covered employers.

Wyoming minimum wage and pay rules

Minimum wage (federal)$7.25 an hour$290 weekly gross at 40 hours; $267.81 take-home
Tipped employees (federal)$2.13 an hour cash wageTips must bring pay to at least $7.25

Overtime1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours a week; no daily overtimeEnter overtime hours in hourly mode
Overtime example: $20 an hour for 80 regular and 10 overtime hours is $1,900 gross, and take-home pay is $1,610.50. To total a week of punches first, use our time card calculator with overtime.

Wyoming Paycheck Tax Calculator: How Wyoming Payroll Works

A Wyoming paycheck calculator is really a federal calculator with Wyoming pay rules on top. Your stub should show federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, and nothing for state withholding (SIT). Our pay stub abbreviations list explains the codes you'll see.

Federal Withholding for Wyoming Paychecks

Federal withholding uses your Form W-4 and the 2026 federal brackets. The calculator supports filing status, Step 2(c), Step 3 credits and Step 4(a), 4(b) and 4(c). If you claim the new overtime or tips deductions, our W-4 Step 4(b) worksheet guide shows how to enter them, and our 2026 federal tax withholding guide covers the rest. For tipped restaurant and hospitality workers, the new federal tips deduction can make a real difference.

Working Across State Lines

Wyoming residents who work in Montana, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah or Idaho owe that state's tax on those wages. People who live in those states and work in Wyoming owe no Wyoming tax, but their home state taxes the wages. See the border table above for how each case is withheld.

Bonuses

Only federal taxes apply to Wyoming bonuses. A bonus paid separately usually gets a flat 22% federal withholding plus FICA. See why bonuses are taxed so high.

Why Your Actual Wyoming Paycheck May Differ

This calculator is a close estimate, not your employer's payroll run. Your W-4 on file, benefit elections, overtime hours, year-to-date wages and a 27th biweekly payday in some years can all move the result a little. Three-paycheck months change monthly cash flow but not the tax on each check. For a full checklist, see why your paycheck is lower than expected. At year-end, our W-2 form generator can use the same totals.

Wyoming Paycheck Calculator by Pay Frequency

This page also works as a weekly, biweekly, semimonthly or monthly Wyoming payroll calculator. The annual salary stays the same, but gross pay and withholding on each check change with the number of pay periods. See our pay period guide for how the schedules differ.

Update log: September 25, 2026: rewrote this page. The old version was copied from our Florida page: it listed Florida's minimum wage ($14 rising to $15 on September 30), called unemployment tax a "reemployment tax", labeled the state step "Wyoming DE 4" (a California form) and showed a results panel that didn't match its own example. Wyoming's floor is the federal $7.25, and employers pay unemployment insurance to the Department of Workforce Services. We moved the page to our current layout and added a comparison with neighboring states, a border-commute guide, employer-paid taxes, a salary table, a worked example and the test cases above. We re-check this page whenever the IRS or Wyoming agencies publish new figures, and at least once a year each January.

Wyoming Paycheck Calculator FAQ

Does Wyoming have a state income tax?
No. Wyoming doesn't tax wages or any other personal income, and no Wyoming city or county taxes wages either. The only taxes withheld from a Wyoming paycheck are federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare.
How much tax is taken out of a Wyoming paycheck?
On a $60,000 salary paid biweekly, filing single, $369.62 comes out of each $2,307.69 paycheck: $193.08 federal income tax, $143.08 Social Security and $33.46 Medicare. That leaves $1,938.07, or about 84% of gross pay.
What is Wyoming's minimum wage in 2026?
Wyoming's own minimum wage is still $5.15 an hour, but the federal $7.25 applies to almost every job, so $7.25 is the floor most workers see. Tipped employees can be paid $2.13 an hour if tips bring them to $7.25. The $5.15 rate only covers the few jobs outside federal law.
Does Wyoming have daily overtime?
No. Wyoming follows federal law: time and a half after 40 hours in a workweek, with no daily overtime.
Is there a Wyoming tax on my paycheck for unemployment?
No. Wyoming unemployment insurance is paid by employers to the Department of Workforce Services on the first $33,800 of each worker's 2026 wages. It isn't taken out of your pay.
I live in Wyoming but work in another state. Which taxes apply?
The state where you work can tax those wages. If you live in Cheyenne and work in Colorado, or live in Evanston and work in Utah, your employer withholds that state's tax, and Wyoming has no income tax to credit it against.
I live in Colorado, Montana or Idaho and work in Wyoming. Do I owe state tax?
Not to Wyoming. But your home state taxes all your income, so you'll usually owe home-state tax on your Wyoming wages. Ask your employer to withhold for your home state, or make estimated payments.
How are bonuses taxed in Wyoming?
Only federal taxes apply. Bonuses paid separately usually get a flat 22% federal withholding, plus 6.2% Social Security and 1.45% Medicare. There's no Wyoming withholding on bonuses.
Are 401(k) contributions pre-tax in Wyoming?
Yes, for federal income tax. A $150 biweekly 401(k) contribution on a $60,000 salary cuts federal withholding from $193.08 to $175.08. With no state tax, there's no state saving on top.
Why does Wyoming have no income tax?
Wyoming funds its budget largely from taxes on coal, oil and natural gas production, plus sales and property taxes. That lets it skip income tax on wages and on most other personal income.
How do I calculate take-home pay in Wyoming?
Start with gross pay, including overtime. Subtract pre-tax deductions, then federal withholding from your W-4, 6.2% Social Security up to $184,500 and 1.45% Medicare. Subtract post-tax deductions to get take-home pay. There's no state step.
